iPadsWho are we?

Trinity has been an academic leader in the Jackson community since 1961. Our school is known throughout the area for its Christ-centered approach to education and our academic excellence. Many of our graduates go on to become valedictorians and honor students of their high schools.

TLS is owned and operated by Trinity Lutheran Church, a member of The Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. (See lcms.org for information regarding our church's beliefs and practices.) TLM (Trinity Lutheran Ministries) is the umbrella in which our ministries exist. Two Ministries - One Mission! Trinity Lutheran Church is located at 122 W. Wesley St. Jackson, MI.

Is a TLS education affordable?

Tuition for a family's second child is even lower, and a third and fourth child are free. Scholarships are available. We utilize a company called FACTS to help determine eligibility.

Do we have to be Lutheran?

No. Trinity is open to all families looking for a personalized education stressing high academic standards and Christian-based values. Because growth in faith and discipleship is central to our purpose, we look for families to participate in their home church, whichever one that might be.

What is Trinity's curriculum like?

Our curriculum is driven by children's needs rather than by high-stakes tests. We recognize the value of play and the fine arts and the importance of higher-order thinking skills. Our students give speeches, write research papers, and create posters. They sing often and learn to play instruments. They perform on stage, visit nursing homes, study history, and discuss literature. The Christian faith is integrated across the curriculum, preparing our students to think and respond to the world with Biblical insight.

Special education services are provided through the Jackson County Intermediate School District. Our small size and multi-grade classrooms allow a unique level of flexibility to be able to instruct all students at the level that's right for them.

Do students use technology?

Trinity provides an iPad or laptop to every student. Classrooms have interactive whiteboards, and wi-fi is available throughout the building. Students' grades are available online for parents to view.

Do you use standardized tests?

Student achievement is measured annually through the Iowa Tests of Basic Skills. As a private school, we are able to avoid the use of the high-stakes, high-pressure, politically-driven tests required of public schools.

Are TLS teachers credentialed?

Our full-time teachers are state certified and highly qualified to teach all subjects. They hold endorsements in reading, social studies, music, language arts, and early childhood education. All have specialized credentials in teaching the faith, ensuring that our classrooms reflect the love of Jesus.

What extracurricular activities are available?

Basketball, Volleyball, Co-ed Track

Do you have an extended care program?

Affordable before- and after-school care is available 7-8am and 3-6pm. (Students must be pre-registered through our Early Childhood Director.)

Do you have a breakfast & lunch program?

Yes. Our families can qualify for free and reduced-price lunches & breakfast.

Can parents participate in the life of the school?

It's expected! Our parent group, Parents and Teachers in Lutheran Schools (PTLS), encourages active participation. Parent/teacher conferences are held twice a year. We rely on parental involvement for field trips, class trips, parties, work projects, and many other activities.

What are your school hours?

Our school day runs from 8:00am to 3:00pm.
