Meet Jon and Donna Lake

What brought you to Trinity?  Jon became a member of Trinity Lutheran Church when he was baptized as a baby, and later became a confirmed member after completing catechism classes. Donna was baptized in Lindsborg, Kansas as an infant, and became a member of Trinity by transferring from Immanuel Lutheran in Jackson when she married Jon in 1977.

What groups or activities have you been involved in since becoming members?  Jon is a practicing physician and director of Henry Ford Allegiance Health Hospice Home, which is where he spends a lot of his time. Donna is a retired Jackson Pubic Schools teacher, who taught for 32 years. They love to ride bicycles and golf together whenever they can. Donna also enjoys gardening, sewing and reading. In retirement, Donna has served on several community boards, as well as TLM church council. She currently serves on the Jackson College Board of Trustees and Foundation Board.

Donna and Jon have enjoyed serving as greeters at TLM, choir and quilting with the Ladies Aid is another favorite pastime for Donna. Working on ways to engage the community in our church and providing for those in need is also a passion for Donna which she accomplished by working on the Harvest Dinner, Community Care Day and the Community Food Pantry. When we were not in a Pandemic, Jon also served as a communion assistant.

What has meant the most to you being part of the ministries at Trinity?

Our understanding and belief in God has been strengthened throughout our years at Trinity. We have made many lifelong friends at Trinity, and we look forward to the day when we can all be together again!
