Over the past year we have developed new Values, Mission and Vision, through the work of our leadership, members of the congregation and parents at the school.  Here are a few highlights from some of our renewed and new ministry teams.

Outdoor Club Campfire Cooking
The Outdoor Club recently held a campfire cookout in our school yard.  This ministry offers a chance to teach about God's creation in a fun and informative way.

        

Church Offices at the School
The remodeling work continues to create office space for church staff at the school.  At an April workday the stud walls were put up along with door frames.  The electrician will now be able to install electrical outlets and emergency lights.  After his work passes inspection, we’ll be ready to add soundproofing insulation and drywall. It's really starting to take shape!
 
                  

On a Different Note - Church Slate Roof Repairs
Detroit Cornice Company has been doing some modifications to the church roof over the last couple of weeks.  Precarious work!

We've been working for a year now and have developed new Values, Mission and Vision, through the work of our leadership, members of the congregation and parents at the school.  We're sharing a few highlights from some of our renewed and new ministry teams each month.

Kitchen Connections Begins Its Pilot
During the month of March, Trinity's Kitchen Connections Ministry completed its pilot of 4 healthy cooking classes for those in the community in need of a helping hand.  While our first targeted audience will be the Interfaith Shelter, we piloted with Trinity members and school families. Henry Ford's Manager of Culinary Wellness was our instructor, and we learned skills, made meals, ate together and had activities for kids.  It was also a time of getting to know each other better.  We're making a few adjustments before our next classes in May!



Worthy Wednesdays
Worthy Wednesdays has begun during the Lenten season with brief meals and devotions at the school.  The meal begins at 5:30, with a brief worship opportunity from 6:00-6:30 which includes music, a message and prayer.  April 9 will be the last Lenten worship.
                    


You Are My Sunshine
Trinity continues to build on its relationship with the Y.  Last summer we hosted a few lunches for the construction workers and the Y staff.  Recently we put together 50 Sunshine Bags for the Y staff to let them know we're thinking of them during their ongoing construction.  On March 31 we delivered the bags to the Y.  They were so appreciative!  Thank you for the generous donations from Trinity members!

Trinity's Kitchen Connections Serves at Interfaith Shelter
One of our new ministries is Kitchen Connections, which is starting a healthy cooking class for recent graduates of the Interfaith Shelter.  Our class will start its pilot on March 3, but in the meantime we went to the Interfaith Shelter on February 28 to serve lunch and meet some of the residents who might become our potential cooking partners.  The kitchen workers that day - Jean Yohe, Ann Holeso, Julie Riddle and Donna Lake, plus 3 from Interfaith!  Our Kitchen Connection team also includes Lori Post and Carol Bush.



Outdoor Ministry Club - Ice Fishing
On February 22 the Outdoor Ministry Club had a day of ice fishing on Lake Somerset.  Looks like lots of fun and very successful fishing!  What a great way to celebrate God in the beauty of His Creation!
                    

Zoom Calls With Five Two
All of our new and expanded Ministry Teams are participating in a monthly Zoom call with Five Two to talk about successes, challenges, and to encourage each other with prayer and support.  While all of our teams have been active since June 2024, some fully launched right away, while others are just getting on their way after detailed planning.  In any case, it's encouraging to be among friends and colleagues.

Trinity’s Outdoor Club
What is it?  A place for lifelong followers of Jesus to share their love of the outdoors while creating relationships and introducing participants to Jesus.  All are welcome!

August Activity - Fishing Trip to Lake Erie
 
       
 
What's Next: Meeting on Thursday, September 19, 6:00-7:00pm, at the school. We will be discussing Fly Casting. All are welcome to attend!

Praying in Color
What is it?  Helping people deepen their faith through creative outlets.  A way to connect, recharge, and strengthen your faith through creative means.  All are welcome!

August Activity – “Back To School” Prayer Time
 
We had our second Praying in Color event August 10. It was a wonderful time to bathe the school year in prayer and to fellowship with Godly women. God is good.


What's Next:  "In the Margins" on Saturday, September 21 from 9:00-11:00am, in Elizabeth Valente's Classroom at Trinity Lutheran School.  All are welcome!

Meeting Our Neighbors
 
Also this summer, in June, July, and September, we served lunch and ice cream treats to the construction workers at the Y, and also the Y staff.  We were joined by Schafer’s employees too.  Loving our neighbor can actually be fun!
